VERY DISSATISFIED
Geoffrey Hayes Said: Do NOT BUY this ( Aug. 15th 2010 )
Do not buy it. I have a fairly new powerful PC and could not get MagicJack to work at all. It would not start on my computer. I called their customer service and started a live "chat" and 4 hours later I was still waiting for their Remote logon to my computer option where they would remotely control my computer and fix the problem.. Four Hours! In the end of course I hung up and took the thing back to the store where I bought it for a refund. Do not buy this thing. Their customer servcie as you will have seen from numerous internet complaints, is a joke. They have exotic names like Ambrosia and Ayla and know nothing. I did not even get to see if the thing worked and would let me make calls.

P.Mac Said: FOR TWENTY BUCKS A YEAR!! ( Jul. 30th 2010 )
Got my MJ last September and now it runs all the phones in the house. It does not have a NH area code so I have a Mass area code. We havea cell for our original home phone. The downside, The Computer has to be on all the time if you want to use the phone. Sometimes, though not as often as it used to, you have to give the computer A Re-boot. I do that once a month now and it runs just fine! If you friends dont have an MJ and they call you from say, across the Street, they can incur a Long distance charge. Sometimes you can hear an echo, You can't shut off the voicemail option (Wish I'd have know that from the get-go, It can mess with your home answering machine) The upside, It's Twenty bucks a year!! Let's see, I was paying $47.00+ taxes every month, I think it might have been around $54-$55 a month for a house phone. Now, I can call out, make long distance calls and talk all I want for...You guessed it, Twenty bucks a year!! I've seen the infomericial and in my opion, it's misleading to a point. A guy plugs the MJ into the computer and wha-Lah!! The MJ is ready to use.....Not really, You have to register the thing first, No big deal, but you do. Then when you do plug it in after all is said and done, it takesa a little more time then your led to believe to become ready to use. Then there's setting up your voice mail which is something I regret doing as there is no way of turning the voicemail off. So, it you have an answering machine, you'll have to set it for less rings so it will work. As for Customer service, I use the online chat they have, as they have no customer service number to call. It works "O.K." I revert back to twenty bucks a year!! In my honest opion, I think everyone should have a magicjack, it does work and yes, you have to put up with some inconvience but who cares, it was after all....Twenty Bucks a Year!!
Angela Said: It will take Magic to make it work! It's a horrible product. ( Jul. 29th 2010 )
We purchased Magicjack and I have never been so frustrated with a piece of technology as I have with this product. It is fraught with problems. My husband loves to troubleshoot IT matters and even he has become exhausted with MagicJack. It is simply not reliable. Sometimes you make outbound calls and they never go through. Sometimes they do go through but you never hear the person you are calling answer. What's worse is that the person you are calling keeps receiving your calls but can't hear you. I have annoyed numerous colleagues by calling them (and they have caller ID and know it's me) but they can't hear me. I eventually would abandon MagicJack and use an alternative phone. Another annoying repeat problem is that when I get someone's voicemail system my message is abruptly stopped short because of some bizarre interaction between MagicJack and voicemail systems. I have tested this by calling the same voicemail system with my cell phone and the problem does not repeat itself. There are other problems as well such as the simple failure of MagicJack to call a number that I have dialed.
In sum, this product is unreliable. It takes Magic to make to make it work.
